Members Only Labels: History and How to Date Them

Members Only is the brand behind the 1980s racer jacket with narrow epaulettes, a collar strap and knitted trim. Because the brand never stopped and has been relaunched, a Members Only jacket needs its labels checked to separate 1980s originals from later production.
Company history
Wikipedia, cited in our 1980s hub, records that menswear entrepreneur Herb Goldsmith created the brand in 1975 and that Europe Craft Imports introduced it to the US market in 1980. The racer jackets came in many colours, with the tagline "when you put it on, something happens". The brand was licensed in 2016 to iApparel Brands and has added women's wear, footwear and other lines.

What it helps date
- Members Only racer jackets were a mainstream 1980s staple, per our 1980s hub, which also warns that many 1980s brands never stopped.
- Care labels and RN numbers help separate original and later jackets: care labels, RN and WPL numbers.
Values
The 1980s hub gives Members Only jacket ranges of $8 to $15, $15 to $35 and $35 to $80 by condition (Poshmark sold listings), and notes supply is high, so most stay under $50. Prices are estimates as of 2026.
