Callot Soeurs was a Paris couture house founded in 1895 by three sisters and famous for antique lace, lavish beading and gold and silver lamé. The label was used until 1948, so a genuine Callot Soeurs label places a garment between 1895 and the late 1940s.

Company history

The Vintage Fashion Guild (VFG) records that Callot Soeurs was started in Paris in 1895 by Marie, Marthe and Régine Callot, with Marie, the eldest, as head designer. The house was known for antique laces, beading, exotic fabrics and embroideries, and fine cut and construction, and made gold and silver lamé dresses from the 1910s through the 1920s. Madeleine Vionnet worked there for five years from 1900. Marie retired in 1937 and the house merged with the House of Calvet; the Callot Soeurs label continued until 1948, when the house closed. The 1895 founding date also appears in our Edwardian and 1910s hubs.
